"Many of you suffer needlessly from carrying heavy burdens because you do not open your hearts to the healing power of the Lord... Lay the burden at the feet of the Savior. He has invited you to do that so that you can be free from pointless worry and depression." - Richard G. Scott
Isn't this the truth in every aspect of life? So many times we worry about every little thing. If we turn our burdens over to the Lord we can be free from pointless worry and depression. That is quite the promise if you ask me. David A. Bednar said,
"No one understands. No one knows. No human being, perhaps, knows. But the Son of God perfectly knows and understands, for He felt and bore our burdens before we ever did."
I think we all tend to forget this from time to time. Christ has felt our exact pain for us. He knows the burden we are carrying and he will take it from us. We can give Him any burden large or small. He will never leave us and may we always remember to never leave Him.
"Lay the burden at the feet of the Savior. He has invited you to do that..."
I love this. Elder Scott rocks my socks off! He just gave an address in a broadcast for an East coast regional stake conference recently on pornography that was out of this world. Of course, being in the situation that I am right now, having just left my husband after 9 years of porn and 5 years of adultery, I was riveted. I wish so much that I could get the talk and share it with all the women (and men!) in the church who are suffering and fighting in this battle! Maybe Elder Scott will talk about some of the same things in conference! Or maybe I'll be able to swipe something from the address and post it on my blog! (hehehe ... my dear old dad *is* in the high council) We'll see ... Anyway. I digress. Thanks for posting these uplifting quotes. They really struck home with me today.
ReplyDeleteOh, this is definitely something we're working on in our household. Letting Christ share the heavy load of our burdens with us. Why is it that we always think we can (or even need to) do everything alone? Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteAngel--If you get your hands on the address, I'd love to see it.
